The four-year fellowship establishes the Mamad Lab and funds a PhD student to investigate microRNA mechanisms in CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder.
The award, announced by FutureNeuro, supports pre-clinical research into the landscape of microRNAs in CDD to pinpoint novel therapeutic targets for CDD and potentially other rare brain disorders.

"This challenges us as a society to accelerate progress so that no disease and no patient is, ultimately, left behind in getting access to safe and effective therapeutics."
Professor David Henshall, Director of FutureNeuro, said: "Rare diseases, with their intricate complexities, demand a unique blend of patience and persistence. Dr Mamad, armed with both, will now embark on a four-year research journey to investigate CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder."
